Namibia

Vineyards in Namibia were first established by German Roman Catholic priests in the late 19th century, near the capital city, Windhoek. However, commercial wine production in Namibia is a relatively recent development, beginning in 1994 with the founding of Kristall Kellerei by Helmuth Kluge in Omaruru, located on the edge of the Namib Desert. The wines produced in Namibia are known for being clean and well-made, with the fresh and zesty Colombard being the standout variety. Additionally, there are two small wineries in Otavi, where a diverse range of grapes, including Shiraz, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mouvèdre, Tempranillo, and Chardonnay, are cultivated.
