In 1992, Svein Hansen established the Hallingstad Vineyard near Horten, Norway, at approximately 60°N latitude. This location is often cited as one of the world's northernmost commercial vineyards. As of recent reports, Norway has approximately 40 commercial vineyards, with notable producers including Lerkekåsa Vineyard, Kvelland Gård, and Egge Gård. These vineyards primarily cultivate grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Viognier, adapting to the unique climatic conditions of the region.
