Peru

The Spanish colonizers introduced grapevines shortly after their arrival, establishing the foundation for winemaking in Peru. Over the centuries, Peru has developed a unique wine culture, influenced by its diverse climates and terrains. Peru's wine regions are primarily located along the central coast, extending southward from Lima. The coastal plains around the city of Pisco are the heartland of wine production. Roughly 220 km (125 miles) south of the capital, Lima, at 13 degrees south, Pisco is located at the center of Peru's Pacific coastline. On either side of it are the towns of Chincha, Ica, Moquegua, and Tacna, Peru's other viticultural centers.
