Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's viticulture and wine industry have experienced significant growth and modernization in recent years. As of 2020, the total vineyard area in Uzbekistan was approximately 162,500 hectares, marking a 19% increase over five years. Of this, about 13,720 hectares (8.1%) are dedicated to wine grape varieties. In 2006, the Uzbek government restructured the wine sector by establishing Uzvinsanoat, a holding company to oversee domestic wine production. This reorganization aimed to enhance the quality and competitiveness of Uzbek wines. The primary wine-producing regions are Samarkand, Tashkent, and Surkhandarya. The most commonly used grape varieties include Soyaki, Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Aleatico, Bayanshirei, and Hindogni. In 2014, wine production in Uzbekistan was approximately 303,680 hectoliters.
