Vietnam

Viticulture and simple winemaking were introduced during the French colonial era in Vietnam, particularly in the Central Highlands and near Hanoi. The country's first modern winery emerged in 1995 as a joint venture by Allied-Domecq in Ninh Thuận Province, utilizing grapes from long-established Cardinal variety vineyards. Although the venture was short-lived, lasting only a few years, wine production resumed shortly afterward and has seen steady growth over the past decade. Ladora Winery, owned by the Lam Dong Food Co (Ladofoods), is Vietnam's largest wine producer. Established in 2015, it operates a winery in Da Lat and vineyards in Ninh Thuan Province, approximately 100 kilometers away. Ladora produces a range of wines under the Chateau Dalat label, including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and Chardonnay. Other wineries in Vietnam are modernizing by transitioning from fruit wines to grape wines, experimenting with varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Some are also cultivating local hybrid varieties like NH.01.48 and NH.01.152, similar to those found in Thailand.
